Get Cozy
The Isle of Bute has a large variety of restaurants, cosy pubs to warm up in, beach front cafés and friendly restaurants serving fresh local produce.

Hearty Food & Drink
Harry Haws, in the heart of Rothesay, is a brilliant neighbourhood restaurant: warm and cosy, with friendly staff serving up wholesome, tasty, homemade food for lunch and dinner.

Cosy Country Pub
The Kingarth Hotel and Smiddy Bar, at Kilchattan Bay, was established in 1786 and is Bute’s only country pub. Enjoy a roaring log fire, cosy décor and hearty food — just what you need after a long day outside.

Relaxing, Elegant Hotel
The Glenburn Hotel is a grand and elegant hotel commanding fabulous views overlooking Rothesay Bay and the Cowal Peninsula. Relax with a drink or dinner in its welcoming bars & restaurants.
Get Active Outdoors
For the active in the off-season, there are walking routes to suit everyone, quiet roads and off-road cycling, fishing, sailing, kayaking and golf.

Walking
Bute is a lovely place to walk with no strenuous climbs, or for more of a challenge, the West Island Way is a 30-mile walk that takes you the length of the island. Bute is also a fantastic destination for cyclists, watersports, pony trekking, and the island is home to three golf courses.

Cycling
Bute is fantastic for cyclists in the colder months. Quiet off-season roads and cycle routes, taking in Bute’s incredible scenery. And it is home to one of Scotland’s most technical hill climbs — The Serpentine. This category two climb has 14 consecutive hairpin bends! Try beating the record of just under two minutes to the top!

Enjoy Nature & Scenery
There are endless beaches to choose from, including Ettrick Bay with its white sands and Scalpsie Bay with its seal colony. The island is brimming with wildlife so why not get out into the countryside and see how many different species you can spot, or book a WildBute Tour!
